01 — About

I am all about the things that really matter.

Belly laughs, tight hugs and nose-crinkling smiles. The things that really matter aren't necessarily things — they're the people, the connections, the love and the moments.

I'm Tanaya Kale — the eye, the ear and the very quiet third wheel behind MostlyMonochromePhootography. I've been photographing weddings and families for close to a decade, and somewhere along the way I stopped chasing perfect light and started chasing feeling.

I want you to feel something when you look at your photos, and not feel like a tourist in your own memories. That's why almost everything I deliver is monochrome: strip out the colour of the tablecloths and the tent, and what's left is the expression on your mother's face.

In practice, that means I direct very lightly. I'll put you somewhere with nice light, tell you a bad joke, and then step back. Whether it's a wedding, an afternoon with your family, or the sheer joy of expecting your first baby — let me document it all.

How I work

  1. 01 — We talk. A call, a coffee, or a long email. I want to know what the day actually looks like.
  2. 02 — We plan lightly. A loose timeline, a short list of people who matter, nothing more.
  3. 03 — I disappear. On the day I shoot quietly and let it unfold.
  4. 04 — You get your story. Sneak peeks in 72 hours, the full gallery in four to six weeks.

Questions people ask

Is everything in black and white?
Mostly. Every gallery is delivered in monochrome, and I include a colour edit of a small selection where colour genuinely adds to the story.
Do you travel?
Always. I'm based in Pune but shoot across India and overseas. Travel is quoted at cost, with no mark-up.
How long until we see our photos?
Sneak peeks within 72 hours, full galleries within four to six weeks depending on the season.
We're awkward in front of a camera.
Everyone says that, and everyone is wrong. I direct very lightly and then get out of the way. You'll mostly forget I'm there.
Do you have a second shooter?
For full-day weddings I usually bring one. It's included in the wedding collection.
